Our story
Our mission is to add value. We pick up donations for free, find the items worth more than a thrift-store price, and sell them so every donation does more good.
Why we started
We started Donation Movers to add value. While treasure hunting at thrift stores, we noticed that many items were being sold for far less than they're worth. So we decided to catch those items before they reach the shelves.
When we sell them for what they're really worth, that means more money for a local charity. Whatever we don't resell goes to a local thrift store, so nothing goes to waste.
What the kids are learning
- How to run a small business: picking up, sorting, pricing and selling items
- How to keep track of money coming in and going out
- That a good business can also help the neighborhood
Designed with our kids
Purple and pink are our kids' favorite colors, and they helped pick the look of this site.
Give half, save half
Whenever we sell an item, we split the profit. Half goes to a local charity. The other half goes into our kids' college funds. It's a hands-on lesson in giving first and saving for the future.
Why we pick up for free
Cleaning out a house is hard work, and donating means a trip across town. We make it easy, and we keep it local.
